WellBeing First Aid

Introducing the “wellbeing first aider” package that you can use to train your staff to not only become a first aider from the physical sense but also to be able to help when it comes to mental health. Knowing your first aiders are the people who are approached when others are injured, or feeling ill, makes it easy for those people who might be suffering from mental health conditions too. This can also assist in reducing stigma as people often avoid asking for help from the first aider for mental health due to their perceived negative view of what others might think.

We know how important physical first aid is in the workplace but it is also hugely important from a mental health perspective as 1 in 4 adults suffer from a mental health condition. Spotting the early signs, starting those all important supportive conversations and signposting to professional help is vital to someone requiring help with their mental health. At Reach First Aid we believe that a “wellbeing first aider” is a vital role in helping to keep the people in your organisation safe and we want to help do so with our training package.

Our packages reflect the experience and knowledge of your staff in first aid and start at Bronze where staff are introduced to the first level of wellbeing – a starter level that can help save lives! This package looks at basic life support on the physical side and also an awareness of first aid for mental health. We then move to the silver package that gives more in depth knowledge of first aid for mental health (award in first aid for mental health) and gives an emergency first aid at work qualification too. Our gold package works to level 3 in both disciplines therefore gives more confidence in both aspects. This is the first aid at work qualification along with supervising first aid for mental health.

All of the qualifications are regulated from level 1 through to level 3 and we also include yearly refresher workshops to keep up to date with any potential changes and updates whilst also refreshing skills. You can interchange each award if you want to work at different levels, for example if you want someone who has basic life saving skills but have a more in depth understanding of first aid mental health you can choose Bronze physical and Gold mental health. It is entirely up to you how you configure the awards, for example the Awareness in First Aid for Mental Health can be coupled with First Aid at Work. The discounts for these awards would still apply.
